Our School

Dear D.H. Conley Families,

As we prepare for the start of the second semester, I want to share some important updates to our school procedures that will take effect on January 22, 2026. At D.H. Conley, we are committed to maximizing instructional time and ensuring every student has a clear path to success. These changes are designed to minimize classroom interruptions and provide consistent expectations for all Vikings.

Updated Tardy Policy & Procedures

Punctuality is a key life skill, and being in class on time ensures that students do not miss vital "bell-to-bell" instruction. Starting January 22, we will implement the following:

  • Arrival Expectation: Students are expected to be in their assigned classrooms and ready to work when the bell sounds.
  • Progressive Discipline: To support our students in meeting this expectation, we will follow a progressive cycle each grading period:
    • 1st Tardy: Warning (Minor Incident).
    • 2nd Tardy: Parent Phone Call (Minor Incident).
    • 3rd Tardy: Office Referral and one day of Project Equal.
    • 4th+ Tardy: One day of Project Equal, In-School Suspension (ISS), or other appropriate consequences.
  • Fresh Start: The tardy count will reset at the beginning of each new grading period.
  • Attendance Requirement: Please remember that to be counted present for a class, a student must attend at least half of the scheduled class time (45 minutes for a standard 90-minute block).

Revised Missed Work Guidelines

We want to ensure that students who are absent have a fair and consistent opportunity to make up their assignments:

  • Student Responsibility: It is the student’s responsibility to communicate with their teachers immediately upon returning to school to obtain missed assignments and arrange for make-up work.
  • Completion Timeline: Students must complete and submit all missed assignments within five (5) school days of returning from an absence.
  • Grading Period Deadlines: All make-up work must be submitted prior to the end of the grading period, unless the principal has granted an extension for specific mitigating circumstances.
  • Teacher Flexibility: Our teachers have the flexibility to make reasonable adjustments to deadlines in cases of extended illness or family emergencies.

We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home. By working together, we can ensure that every minute at D.H. Conley is focused on student growth and achievement.

If you have any questions regarding these updates, please do not hesitate to reach out to our front office.

Go Vikings!
